Attachment Cannot Be More Than 5 MB

Purpose

This SOP explains why the "Attachment Cannot Be More Than 5 MB" validation message appears and how to resolve it.

This validation can appear anywhere in the application where file or image attachments are uploaded, such as:

  • Job Cards
  • FIR (Failure Investigation Report)
  • Claims
  • Customer Documents
  • Vehicle Documents
  • Purchase Documents
  • Any screen containing an Attachment or Upload option

The system restricts large file uploads to ensure faster processing, storage optimization, and smooth system performance.

Validation Message

While uploading a file or image, the system may display a message such as:

Attachment Cannot Be More Than 5 MB

or

Please upload image less than 5 MB size

This validation prevents files larger than the allowed limit from being uploaded.

Why Does This Validation Appear?

The validation appears when:

  • The selected image size is greater than 5 MB.
  • The selected document size exceeds 5 MB.
  • A high-resolution photo is being uploaded.
  • A scanned document has been saved with a large file size.

Since the system only allows attachments up to 5 MB, larger files are automatically rejected.

Resolution Steps

Step 1: Check the File Size

Before uploading, verify the size of the file or image.

Example

Photo Size = 6.8 MB

This exceeds the permitted limit.

Step 2: Reduce the File Size

If the attachment exceeds 5 MB:

  • Compress the image.
  • Reduce image resolution.
  • Resize the photograph.
  • Save the image in JPG format if appropriate.
  • Compress PDF documents if required.

Step 3: Verify the Updated File Size

After compression, confirm that the file size is below:

5 MB

Example

Original Size = 6.8 MB

Compressed Size = 2.3 MB

Step 4: Upload the Attachment Again

Select the compressed file and upload it again.

The system should now accept the attachment successfully.
